A bull leaps over young matador Gomez del Pilar after he abandoned his cape following a failed attempt at a pass on his knees. The bullfight took place ahead of the San Fermin festival in Pamplona, Spain, which kicks off in earnest on Saturday.




Fireworks light up the sky against the backdrop of a full moon during a Fourth of July celebration in Kansas City in the United States on Tuesday. This year, the city plans to celebrate the Fourth of July twice. The city held a fireworks display on Tuesday night after a baseball match played by the home team, the Kansas City T-Bones.




Seeing the world for the first time, a newly-hatched baby crocodile is held by a worker at a crocodile farm in Pasay City, Manila. Farm officials said that it was one of 10 crocodiles that hatched on the farm on Tuesday.

Run by the Royal Horticultural Society, the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is the biggest gardening event in the United Kingdom; it will open to the public today and run for five days. The venue itself is one of only two surviving palaces that were owned by the Tudor monarch Henry VIII.




A true football fanatic, 28-year-old Dennis Rheinhardt has decorated his family home in Eppstein, near Frankfurt, with German flags to show support for his country's football team. "Die Mannschaft," or "The Team," has reached the semi-finals of the 2012 European Football Championship, playing an undefeated tournament so far. But they will have to beat Italy in the next match to proceed to the final 




People gather in Poznan, Poland to release thousands of paper lanterns into the night sky. The ceremony marked the summer solstice -- the shortest night of the year.




A two-year old Bengal tiger named Akasha dives into the water in her enclosure after a chunk of meat. Asksha lives in Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, an amusement park in Vallejo, California.




Workers take art to a higher level -- literally -- as they put the finishing touches on "The Furniture Lift - The Ultimate Moving Out," by Argentine artist Leandro Erlich. The piece will be displayed in the western French city of Nantes in August 2012 as part of the contemporary art event "The Journey to Nantes." Works such as these will be spread out across almost 10 kilometers (6 miles) of the city's streets.
